Course description and dates

Short course

Producing High Quality Seed
Dates:
Monday 21 – Friday 25 July 2014
Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm daily
The success of any seed industry depends on being able to produce high quality seed, and to have the seed quality assurance systems in place to ensure that quality. This course will provide participants with the knowledge required to do so. Topics range from production factors affecting seed quality to the significance of quality seeds and methods for testing them. The course will include lectures and practical work.

One day workshop

Grass Endophytes
Date: Monday 28 July 2014
Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm
The association between Epichloe endophytes and their grass hosts can provide effective bio-control of pasture pests. These endophytes are vertically transmitted (from seed to seed), but transmission success and survival in seed can be affected by both seed production and seed storage factors. This workshop will examine these factors and also provide participants with practical experience in endophyte testing.
